Special Days

Birthdays

In 5th Grade, birthdays are celebrated on the first Friday of the month.  Birthdays will be celebrated in the classroom on days that teacher's have set-up through their lead parent.  Please watch for an email from our amazing Classroom Coordinator about the details of what to bring and when for your child's birthday.

Christmas Party

Christmas is a fun time of year, and in 5th grade we like to celebrate by having small classroom parties and doing a Secret Santa Sock Exchange.  Each student should bring a pair of socks that they bought for less than $5.00.  It's going to be a great time!

Field Day/ Dunk Tank

The 5th grade does not participate in the stations for Field Day.  We (5th Grade) run the Dunk Tank.  It is a tremendous amount of fun. However, students are not required to get in the tank.  If your child would like to participate, they need to bring a couple of things:  TWO towels (one to use at the dunk tank and one to dry off with after they are finished), a swimsuit and a dry change of clothes.   Girls may wear swimsuits, but must have a t-shirt and shorts on over their suits that they will wear at all times until it is time to change into dry clothes.  Boys must also wear a t-shirt, including while they are getting in the dunk tank.  They can wear their suits to school and bring their change of clothes, as this is typically the easiest.  They may also wear flip-flops for their time at the dunk tank, but will need tennis shoes for the other activities we do that day.  Each 5th-grade class gets a turn at the dunk tanks.  While not at the dunk tank, 5th graders get to do two other 5th grade-only activities on the football/baseball field.

If you have any questions, please contact your student’s homeroom teacher.

Your student's individual teacher may have additional "Special Days" throughout the year.  If this is the case, they will email you directly.
